That's right, I have reached 28 weeks. I continue to have a good standing in the pregnancy department. Considering the fact that I am carrying twins, I would say I've had one of the easiest pregnancies imaginable. The stupid flu shot I had to take made it unpleasant, though. I was on the mend, too, and then that silly shot made me sick all over again.
I've been miserable all week. Not much sleep. Crazy painful throat issues. Coughing. More like hacking up a lung, and some minor throwing up (mainly drainage)... And it's all been ruled to just being a bad cold. What an un-enjoyable way to spend Christmas, and my husband's leave days. Boo. It's been awful, but hopefully we will see an improvement soon. Doctor's couldn't really give me anything because I'm pregnant so I have a nasal spray and Tylenol.
Glucose test: check. Now, we are just waiting for the results. The red liquid the made me drink actually wasn't bad. I'm used to drinking juice, so I wasn't caught off guard with the sweetness. It was fruit juice flavor :) So, I downed 10 oz of fruit juice sugar in 3 minutes, no problem. Then, I had to wait an hour without eating or drinking.
Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal. However, due to this ridiculous sore throat/coughing problem I have because of the flu shot, it made that one hour almost unbearable. I had a major coughing fit with an intense tickle in my throat. When this happens, it causes me to throw up sometimes, which is what I did the previous night. If I did throw up, I'd have to retest. So, I tried to remain calm and breathe slowly. My poor throat just needed some sort of soothing and I couldn't do it! It was beyond frustrating. I had to keep praying that God would help me for the hour, and luckily He did. I lasted the whole hour, and then they drew two vials of blood and I was good to guzzle as much water as I wanted. Shew! It was awful. I'm hoping the results come back negative.
Symptoms:
- I am carrying 2 boxers. They are beating me up from the inside basically all hours of the day.
- I've gained 21.6 lbs.
- Facial Acne
- Urinary Incontinence - Meaning it's harder to control my bladder muscle. All the pressure from the coughing and throwing up has caused me to lose control (in a small way) quite a few times which is beyond aggravating and embarrassing.
- Hip/butt pain - really it just feels really sore and uncomfortable but there's nothing I can do about it.
Mom also gave me a wonderful surprise: a standing mixer! I have wanted one for a while, but figured I'd wait to get one until we moved back home. Since she'd already given us a big Christmas gift when we moved into our house, I wasn't really expecting anything else... so this mixer was a beautiful surprise! Since I've been sick..my desire to cook/bake has disappeared. Kyle has stepped up to the plate and decided to use the new mixer by making some banana chocolate chip mini muffins (in some new muffin tins I got). They were sooooo yummy and I was proud of my mini Betty Crocker!
I also bought Kyle a mug that said Real Men Make Twins. I thought it was fitting and cute. :)
We received the rest of our baby furniture, which was wonderful! Except of course, when we saw a big gash on the top part of the headboard. Ugh. That was frustrating to say the least. So, we have been trying to figure out how to go about getting that part replaced. We were told we only need to replace the very top part, so Kyle went ahead and put the rest of the crib together.
We are getting excited to meet our little boogers. It will be wonderful to finally know if I'm carrying Emmalyn & Harper or Grant & Preston! Only a few more weeks until we know! :)
