Down to the Last Trimester!

First off: Merry Christmas!

That's right, I have reached 28 weeks. I continue to have a good standing in the pregnancy department. Considering the fact that I am carrying twins, I would say I've had one of the easiest pregnancies imaginable. The stupid flu shot I had to take made it unpleasant, though. I was on the mend, too, and then that silly shot made me sick all over again.

I've been miserable all week. Not much sleep. Crazy painful throat issues. Coughing. More like hacking up a lung, and some minor throwing up (mainly drainage)... And it's all been ruled to just being a bad cold. What an un-enjoyable way to spend Christmas, and my husband's leave days. Boo. It's been awful, but hopefully we will see an improvement soon. Doctor's couldn't really give me anything because I'm pregnant so I have a nasal spray and Tylenol.

Glucose test: check. Now, we are just waiting for the results. The red liquid the made me drink actually wasn't bad. I'm used to drinking juice, so I wasn't caught off guard with the sweetness. It was fruit juice flavor :) So, I downed 10 oz of fruit juice sugar in 3 minutes, no problem. Then, I had to wait an hour without eating or drinking.

Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal. However, due to this ridiculous sore throat/coughing problem I have because of the flu shot, it made that one hour almost unbearable. I had a major coughing fit with an intense tickle in my throat. When this happens, it causes me to throw up sometimes, which is what I did the previous night. If I did throw up, I'd have to retest. So, I tried to remain calm and breathe slowly. My poor throat just needed some sort of soothing and I couldn't do it! It was beyond frustrating. I had to keep praying that God would help me for the hour, and luckily He did. I lasted the whole hour, and then they drew two vials of blood and I was good to guzzle as much water as I wanted. Shew! It was awful. I'm hoping the results come back negative.

Symptoms:
  • I am carrying 2 boxers. They are beating me up from the inside basically all hours of the day.
  • I've gained 21.6 lbs.
  • Facial Acne
  • Urinary Incontinence - Meaning it's harder to control my bladder muscle. All the pressure from the coughing and throwing up has caused me to lose control (in a small way) quite a few times which is beyond aggravating and embarrassing.
  • Hip/butt pain - really it just feels really sore and uncomfortable but there's nothing I can do about it.
Kyle and I had a good Christmas despite my sickness. I opened my big gift from hubby on Christmas Eve which is a beautiful Nikon camera! Since it was a beautiful days, in the 70s, we went on a joy ride to the beach and took some pictures with it.

Mom also gave me a wonderful surprise: a standing mixer! I have wanted one for a while, but figured I'd wait to get one until we moved back home. Since she'd already given us a big Christmas gift when we moved into our house, I wasn't really expecting anything else... so this mixer was a beautiful surprise! Since I've been sick..my desire to cook/bake has disappeared. Kyle has stepped up to the plate and decided to use the new mixer by making some banana chocolate chip mini muffins (in some new muffin tins I got). They were sooooo yummy and I was proud of my mini Betty Crocker!

I also bought Kyle a mug that said Real Men Make Twins. I thought it was fitting and cute. :)

We received the rest of our baby furniture, which was wonderful! Except of course, when we saw a big gash on the top part of the headboard. Ugh. That was frustrating to say the least. So, we have been trying to figure out how to go about getting that part replaced. We were told we only need to replace the very top part, so Kyle went ahead and put the rest of the crib together.

We are very excited to completely finish the nursery and get everything we need. I can't wait until it's all finished and I can just sit in there. We still have a hard time believing that we will be having 2 babies soon!! I will be delivering at 37 weeks MAX, but apparently with identicals, they prefer earlier...more like 36 weeks which puts me looking at around February 15. I'm just hoping it's not on Valentine's Day because they will be sharing everything...I'd rather their birthday not be the same as valentine's day, either.

We are getting excited to meet our little boogers. It will be wonderful to finally know if I'm carrying Emmalyn & Harper or Grant & Preston! Only a few more weeks until we know! :)

27 Weeks Brings the Cold

Reached 27 weeks and the cold started. This cold wasn't regarding the weather. My poor pregnant body was being attacked my germs and my poor immune system wasn't equipped to handle it since it's been too busy focusing on babies. Normally a cold is no big deal, but when medicine options are limited, it makes the whole thing worse. I didn't take anything to help with the symptoms simply because I hadn't gone to the doctor's office so I kept my tissues and lemon drops close by.

By the end of the week my cough had practically subsided and my throat didn't hurt anymore but I still needed the tissues! Sleep was returning, too, which is always a plus! :) Maybe it had to do with the fact that Kyle was back home with me, so I was officially happy again and my body recovered.

The day Kyle came back, was our 3 year anniversary from our first date. It was a great gift :) We went to Olive Garden to continue our tradition! It was super yummy.

Symptoms:
  • Facial acne - no matter what I do, it's all over my forehead...still! I think I have acne scarring too. I made it out of high school alive without it and then when I get pregnant, it all goes down hill.
  • Heartburn - This might be from all the Christmas cookies mom sent home with Kyle...but they are yummy and well worth it!
  • Hip pain
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Struggle with deep breaths
  • Rapid heart beat/Pounding heart
  • Charlie Horse in my feet/legs
Kyle brought back a bunch of baby stuff from Kentucky. We are so blessed!! Plus, I have gotten so many Bed Bath & Beyond  coupons in the mail from people back home that it has been incredibly helpful! I used 7 in one transaction yesterday and saved almost $40, which is great, especially when we have to buy 2 of lots of things. I love to go baby shopping until the prices start adding up!

The rest of the baby furniture is at the store! I am so stinking excited to finally get it and set it up! We have to wait until next week, though, so we can ask one of Kyle's friends to help us out with his truck. It will be a good Christmas gift...to have the nursery all set up and ready for our little twinnies!

I also had a growth scan & prenatal appointment. Kyle was able to join me for the prenatal appointment which was awesome. We have been so lucky that he could come see most of these appointments. I was worried at the beginning that he wouldn't be able to come to any of these appointments!

The growth scan took about 40 minutes or so.  Kyle didn't come to this appointment. The technician took measurements and pictures of all the different anatomical aspects of the babies, which is why it took so long. She kept snickering and making comments about how cute the babies were based on how they were behaving. At first Baby B was sitting on Baby A's head. Then their heads were touching. She said they were not shy, and were flaunting themselves all over the place. She asked me to not look at the screen since I wanted to keep the sexes a surprise. At one point she said, "Well, it's good you're not looking because baby B is flaunting what's between their legs" - haha!

Apparently these babies move like crazy. At my last appointment they were in horizontal positions and now they are both vertical. Baby B is breached, though, so they still aren't both head down. Fortunately, there is still time for that to change. My doctor said that we will have to think about different delivery options.

The good news is that both babies are growing well and at very similar sizes, which makes me hope they aren't suffering from Twin to Twin Transfusion syndrome which is fantastic! Baby A weighs approximately 2lbs 1oz and measures about 26 weeks 6 days. The heartbeat was about 163 bpm. Baby B weighs 2lbs 3oz and measures about 27 weeks and about 165bpm. Only 1 day apart in measurements and very close in weight, too! So, that is great. :)

My doctor told me to take a glucose test as soon as possible to test for gestational diabetes (GD). I told him I'd prefer to wait until Monday since I ate a cookie or two before my appointment, hehe. I'm already worried that I'll have it, so I want to increase my chances of not having a positive test for GD, which is why i'm waiting until Monday for the test! No cookies that day! If I fail it, then I'll have to sit and take a more extensive 3 hour test which I hear is awful. Prayers that I don't have it!

I also had to get my TDaP vaccine and the flu vaccine today. Kyle has luckily already had both of these vaccines so he just got to sit pretty and watch his wife get prodded. The TDaP shot is primarily to protect me from Pertussis (Whooping Cough) which can be deadly to babies. So, it's definitely good that both of us now have the vaccine and that's one more thing to help keep our babies safe!

Everything has gone well this week! Let's see what week 28 brings (other than just Christmas joy)!

26 Weeks & Daddy Goes Home

This week was a little bitter sweet because Kyle flew home to Kentucky. I'm glad he was able to visit with family, but it made being in Cali a little lonesome. Plus, everyone in his band went on leave so I didn't even have Mollie here to snag whenever I needed some company! So, I am obviously very excited for him to come back next week! I know he is having a wonderful time, but me and the twinnies definitely miss him and I cannot control by pregnancy tears.

An exciting thing we did before Kyle left was put bring home and put together our first crib!! I bought it online from Babies R Us for about 75% off the original price. Ohhh yeah! It's a strong, sturdy crib that can convert to a toddler bed, and then later can convert into a twin size bed! I haven't bought them yet, but I will need to buy the conversion set. The color is a dark cherry, which shouldn't be hard to find a matching suit whenever the time comes when we want to expand it out and make it into a bedroom suit instead of just a crib. We are still waiting for our other bedroom suit to come in. Hopefully just 2-3 more weeks left! Then, we will finally be able to put the nursery all together and I can start nesting and organizing. :)

Symptoms:
  • Hip pain. I have woken up from hip pain several times this week. It's becoming really annoying. I also have to be careful, when it's sore at the time, how I move. I tried to sit back in my car after one of my jobs and sharp pain shot through my hips and legs. Oy, it was painful! I certainly don't enjoy this symptom.
  • Eye sensitivity - they are still really sensitive to heat primarily, and light.
  • Movement Restrictions - I am noticing that when I bend over, I can get a sharp pain or some kind of cramping. Clearly I'm not taking too well to this limited movement deal by vacuuming the stairs and cleaning out bathtubs...where I obviously have to bend over. Slowly I am trying to come to terms with my situation and just learn to lean on Kyle a little more.
  • Heartburn. I've had it a few more times this week. Primarily when Kyle drives. Maybe his driving upsets my stomach? Hehe! Who knows.
  • I've gained a total of 19 lbs. I even ate less than the week before! That's 2.2 lbs more than the previous week. At the rate I'm going, by the time I reach 36 weeks, I'll have gained close to 45 lbs! I know I'm having twins... but one of the many doctors I've seen said I want to only gain about 25-30 lbs.
  • Muscle Spasms/Charlie Horses in my legs and feet. I woke up sore this week from this and it hurts an incredible amount. Apparently this is normal but I have never heard of this symptom before during pregnancy. I need to eat more potassium and drink more water!
I'm currently suffering from a sore throat. I don't like it. I don't have any hard candy or anything to help. Obviously I'm not going to run and take meds because I have no idea what I can even take. I don't like taking medicine while I'm pregnant though. Hopefully it will go away quickly :)

I am still wishing these days will go by quickly so I can see my wonderful husband again. We miss him terribly!

26 Weeks & the size of Grapefruit

Kids & Nutrition

First of all, this post is really long, and has nothing to do with my pregnancy. It is stuff I've learned about childhood nutrition that I feel like sharing/remembering/implementing with my own twinnies!

Recently, I have been learning about overall Nutrition. The past 2 weeks or so it has been primarily focused on pregnancy and childhood nutrition. Of course, I have found this information to be completely beneficial due to my current state. One of the things I learned a lot about was how awful childhood nutrition is and how I do not want to follow the current trends that most parents employ with their children. If you are reading this and do things that I don't want to do, then don't think I'm judging you. Everyone has their own style of parenting!

I'm sure most of the people reading this are going to think I'm beyond crazy but after talking to my beloved husband about it, he seems to agree with me. We will try to follow with some...if not most of the suggestions provided. We want our kids to be as healthy as possible to avoid any issues such as obesity, diabetes, any kind of nutrition related issues later in life like heart disease, osteoporosis, strokes, heart attacks, as well as some cancers.

First, kids learn how to manipulate their parents before they are even 1 year old. Can you believe that?! Before the age of one, my precious little twins are going to learn how to get what they want from me & Kyle. ONE!! Boy, are we in for an interesting time! Notice how a kid will drop something. Mommy will run over and pick it up and give it back to him. Kid drops item again. Mommy picks it back up. Now that child knows any time I drop this, Mommy will come running to pick it up for me. Boom! Manipulation.

This manipulation includes food. If you give your kid something such as chicken nuggets (which isn't healthy, by the way. Highly processed food isn't a healthy option even if it is "chicken") one night, and then the next night will try to give him broccoli. He will probably turn up his nose and not eat the broccoli. He will probably refuse to eat in general. Mommy will freak out because her child isn't eating, and remembers that the night before he gladly ate the chicken nuggets, so she will make it for him again. Child gets what he wants. He knew those chicken nuggets are good...and of course he would...they are processed, meaning it usually will have high salt, high fat, etc in the foods.

So, Kyle and I have decided we don't want to feed our kids these processed foods as much as possible. Prepackaged, premade items like Mac & Cheese from a box are not healthy for you or kids, even though they are delicious! We have also decided that we are going to hold out. Kids know how long it takes before mom and dad will cave and give them what they want. They will eventually eat that broccoli if they are hungry enough. Therefore, we will remain strong and not give him what he wants. Also, by not introducing those processed foods to them, they obviously won't know how yummy they are so they won't hold out for things like that. =)

Children have different eating needs than adults. That means, adults typically sit down to about 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Maybe add a snack between lunch and dinner. Often times parents will want their kids to sit down and eat with them at those 3 main meals, and finish their plates. However, that isn't exactly a good idea. Kids (and when I say kids here, I'm talking about young children such as toddlers primarily) do not need to eat those big meals. They eat small portions throughout the entire day. Kids are remarkable at self regulating if they are hungry or not. However, many parents employ the "Just take 3 more bites" rule (or some other number), forcing kids to overeat. This instills really bad eating habits from such an early age because it teaches the children to eat past when they are full. It also encourages them to "clean their plates" which also encourages overeating when they are older.

Don't freak out if you noticed your child eating less than he used to. Kids go through growth spurts. While they are growing, they will eat more. When they aren't going through a spurt, then they won't eat as much. Like previously stated, kids are great at self regulating (especially with healthy foods) their food intake. They won't eat when they aren't hungry, especially at such a young age, and their only food options are healthy. If you keep giving them candy, then they might not be so great at self regulating... but that's beside the point. It's okay if you child starts to eat a little less than he used to, it just might mean that he isn't growing so much at the moment.

If our child sits down and takes 3 bites of his food and says he's full, that's fine. He will eat more when he's hungry. Of course, they will still sit with us, and won't be running around like crazy hoodlums while the rest of us eat. However, we will not force them to continue eating when they are not hungry, even if it is "one more bite." If they never eat, then we will know something is wrong and address the situation then.

We also want to employ the "One Bite Rule" which is different than the "one more bite" rule. The One Bite Rule requires every person at the table to take at least one bite of whatever is being served. This will expose our children to lots of new foods and it is non-negotiable. Even Kyle & I will be forced to follow through on this. If you take a bite and don't like it, fine, you don't have to keep eating it. Forcing a child to scarf down a helping of something he thinks is disgusting isn't actually helping, it could cause them to hate that food forever. Keep in mind though, it takes 20 introductions to a food before someone can become used to it (especially if they didn't like it the first time). Some foods have an acquired taste... which means you won't like it the first try, but after trying it several times, then you start to get used to it and then can eventually start to like it. With this One Bite Rule, if on Monday they ate a bite of green beans and didn't like it, they didn't have to keep eating it. However, if I served green beans again on Friday, they are still required to take one bite of it that day, too, even though on Monday they tasted it and didn't like it. This will increase their exposure to these foods until they eventually become used to it. Now, I understand that some foods will never be liked by some people. However, this lessens the chance that the kids will become picky eaters and will encourage them to be more open to trying new foods as they grow older.

Another thing we won't do is give our children something separate from what Kyle and I are eating. Kids learn by watching. If I give our twins a plate of broccoli but Kyle and I eat some macaroni and cheese, those kids are not going to want to eat that broccoli. They will think it doesn't taste good, or just refuse to want to eat it because mommy and daddy clearly don't eat it either. They are eating the good stuff! It is encouraged to give your children the exact same things the parents are eating but in much much smaller portions, of course. This will hopefully encourage parents to eat healthier as well because they shouldn't want to pump their kids full of junk. If the kids see Mommy and Daddy eating something and enjoying it, they will probably be more likely to want to follow suit.

Here's one that everyone is probably going to think we are crazy for. We do not want to give our young kids fast food or sugar. First of all, no one should eat fast food. There is nothing healthy about it. Portions are too big. Too much salt. Too much fat. Even the salads can have more fat and calories than their main burgers. It's ridiculous. Second of all, sugar is not required for a baby/toddler/child etc. We tend to like to make a lot of sugary, sweet stuff because it tastes good and we use it to celebrate things. The earlier you introduce these things to children, they more they will want it. I am pretty sure that giving your child ice cream is not in any way shape or form helpful to their overall health. You can get the dairy or calcium maybe found in it, in other more healthy ways like milk. Low fat milk (after a certain age).

Of course this lack of sugar could be hard because I LOVE to bake. I take after my mother. When the kids are older, then we will probably make cookies and such but not when they are toddlers, etc. We will try to hold out as long as possible. I know most people think I'm crazy. What about their birthday?? What about Halloween?? Well, we haven't really figured that part out yet. Kyle made a good point in saying that a 1 yr old isn't going to care if he gets a birthday cake to destroy or a basket full of candy. All of that stuff is for the parents and other adults. It's cute, it's fun, etc. The point is though, it is not healthy. I don't want my babies to be struggling with an addition to sweets or soft drinks.

No, I am highly positive we will never give our kids soft drinks. Why? Soft drinks, tea, coffee, energy drinks, etc rob the bones of calcium, plus they're awful for you. All these kids you see that drink a lot of that stuff without drinking the same amount (or more) in milk, are more likely to be struggling with more broken bones than kids who don't drink those things. My brother and I were both in sports all the way through high school and I remember being forced to drink milk while I was getting older. Guess what we weren't allowed to have a lot of (or even really kept in the house?)... No coffee... rarely were we allowed soft drinks, just because Mom didn't really keep it in the house... and we never drank tea or energy drinks. Never once did we suffer from a broken bone. Now, kids find places like Starbucks popular but it is robbing their bones of calcium and after the age of 30, you can no longer build up the calcium in your bones. That is why it's so important to avoid those things as long as possible! Up until the age of 30, you need to get as much calcium as possible to make your bones as strong as possible instead of participating in recurring bad behaviors such as a cup or more of coffee everyday without taking in the same amount of calcium. I still try to make Kyle drink extra milk because he loves his coffee. We want him to have strong bones for as long as possible! And no, diet sodas are not more acceptable. They are actually probably worse because of the added chemicals to still make it taste good.

Tagging on to the drinks we won't be giving them, we will probably not give the kids a lot of juice. Even 100% juice has a lot of sugar and calories. Milk and water for our babies! Maybe some crystal light juice so they can have some flavor. :)

Three main problems with kids is a lack of calcium, iron, and fiber. Many kids struggle with constipation because they aren't getting many veggies or fruits or other foods with fiber in it, so they struggle to use the bathroom. Then, when they finally can go, it hurts and so they try to avoid it. This only makes it worse because the more you hold it in, the more the body absorbs the water from it and makes it harder to pass. Pretty picture, right? This applies to adults, too. Don't hold it in! Drink plenty of water and eat lots of fiber! As far as iron goes, from what I've learned, many kids are apparently misdiagnosed with ADHD instead of iron deficiency anemia. It seems that some of their symptoms are similiar. Kids will sit in the back of the room and fidget to stay awake, they can't focus, etc and people think they are hyperactive. Really, they are iron deficient which can cause them to be fatigued, worn out, etc. The extra moving is to keep them from falling asleep in class. A good source of iron is homemade spaghetti! The tomato sauce has iron, the meat will have iron, and the noodles will all work together for good iron absorption in the body. As far as calcium goes.... well.. we will give them plenty of milk!

We are going to start out giving our kids nutrient dense foods. Whole grain bread that has at least 3 grams of fiber in each slice. There is absolutely no reason to start giving our kids white bread. Many parents start giving their kids these things because they think their kids won't want to eat the healthier option. Toddlers cannot know what is good for them, in every aspect in life. That is why they are living with their parents and not getting a job and living on their own. They need guidance and help and nurturing. The same goes with food! Kyle and I aren't going to let our kids dictate all their food choices because lets face it, kids don't quite know what's best for them. We do!

Also, keep out of the house what kids shouldn't be eating (or adults for that matter). Junk food is a no-no. My mother NEVER kept chips in the house. She would, when I was in high school, buy me some Reduced Fat cheez its (which I was addicted to, no lie), but we never had Lays or Fritos or Doritos in our pantry. When my dad was alive, he would eat stuff like that periodically so I would always be able to eat it that way, but after he died, it basically vanished unless I went and bought it with my own money which wasn't about to happen. That stuff has NO nutritional value whatsoever. There is absolutely no reason for my children to eat it except just to pump their bodies full of calories which isn't helping anyone. If I don't want our twins to eat gobs of ice cream of snack out on chips, then I need to keep it out of the house. That way, they aren't tempted! That way Kyle & I aren't tempted, either. :) We already avoid any kind of true junk food. However, a tub of ice cream seems to continually reappear in our freezer... starting in January though, we're giving up sweets as long as possible except for birthdays. :) We want to learn how to live by example!

We plan to pack and send food with our children when they go to school. School cafeteria foods are a JOKE. Seriously. Nachos as a main course.... I don't think so. My kids want a Lunchable? Fine. I'll make it myself and put it in a container with different sections so it looks like the one from the store. Kids are attracted to the cartoons on the packaging. They watch ads on the TV and think they are the yummy stuff and want it. Just because they want it doesn't mean they're going to get it from me. Sorry babies...you're going to have a rough road of having a hard nosed mommy. Don't expect to go to grandma's and get what you want either ;-) Something I'm thankful for learning from my own mother: She did not so easily cave to my wants and demands. As an adult, I have grasped the value of her wonderful parenting style!

We will also teach our kids to cook and have them help us from a young age. That way they are learning how to make things and become used to it. So many people are too busy or lazy or just have no idea how to actually cook anything anymore which is why the premade boxed dinners are so popular, and why so many people have health problems these days. You have NO idea what's really being pumped in your body... but it's easy, so why not? We want our kids to know that they have better options, they just have to cook. Get them used to it early, and then they'll be more equipped to deal with it when they're older.

Pump you kids full of veggies. There is no reason not to. It's good for everyone. It is actually the current recommendation for a healthy nutritious diet to have half of your plate be fruits and veggies, not meat. Hopefully we will be able to incorporate that into our own diets here soon, that way he will affect our kids and their outlook on food. We want to teach our kids to eat to live, not to live to eat!

Kyle and I really do want to follow through on all these things. I know some of them sound extreme, but that's okay. Luckily you have your own kids or future kids to feed whatever you want to. All we ask...really...we expect people who are with our twinnies, is that they follow our rules. One little taste of something might seem harmful to you, but if it's something like candy, our babies will never forget that taste and will always want it again. We don't want that kind of exposure for as long as possible. We are planning to be really hard-nosed and stubborn about this, too. After they are born and are older to where they start eating, we will see how it goes, but the point is, we, as the parents, should be in control of our children's eating habits and what we expose them to, no one else should it upon themselves to pump my kids with crap with we don't want it. We want healthy babies that live a long, long time and have the best chance possible at avoiding any nutrition related issues!

25 Weeks: It's Time to Exercise.

I can't believe I'm already at 25 weeks! I certainly feel it most days. I feel huge. I know people keep saying I look small-ish but I certainly don't feel it. I feel like a beached whale. My belly is starting to get in the way of how I move, too. Kyle will laugh at me when I try to stand up sometimes. I guess it would be rather funny! I know it will only get worse, too! While some people have mentioned I don't look that big for carrying twins, I did have one of my team interpreters tell me I looked 7 months pregnant, which won't be for another few weeks! Hahah! So I guess to at least one person I look big.

After weighing 2.5 lbs more this week than I did last week (I blame the cookies and pie more than the growing babies)... I decided I needed to start exercising in some way. So, I have been doing really light cardio from 30-45 minutes as much as possible. Nothing crazy, of course, simply because prior to the pregnancy I wasn't doing a whole lot. The general rule is whatever you do prior to pregnancy, you can continue to do during pregnancy. Runners can keep running, etc. Since I wasn't much of a runner prior to getting pregnant, I certainly am not starting now! I stick to riding a stationary bike or walking. Regardless, I did it for a majority of the week and have felt good about it. Since it is still a really light exercise, I don't feel like I'm doing much, but I know it's better than nothing.

Symptoms
  • I've gained almost 17 lbs total.
  • Restricted movements due to the belly getting in the way.
  • Braxton Hicks Contractions - still not regular. They randomly come and go.
  • Eye Sensitivity - heat mainly bothers it the most.
  • Heartburn - just a little bit this week. It woke me up and unfortunately I had no milk around.
Kyle's band had their holiday party this past week, too. That was fun. Kyle had to participate in a Secret Santa, and the gifts he received were a laser level, for making sure things are level and straight for hanging pictures, etc, and he also got a funny book you leave in the bathroom for people to enjoy while they're doing their business! That book just so happened to be perfect because he already had a few, so it will match his collection quite nicely. :)

My next appointment isn't for another 2 weeks. I'm scheduled to have a growth scan ultrasound, so they will measure how the babies are growing to make sure they are doing okay. I will also meet with the doctor for another check up! Kyle will be back from KY at that time and the rest of the band will be gone on leave, so he thinks he will be able to come with me to both appointments that day since he won't really have anything to do. I pray that can happen! Plus, it will be in the brand new hospital that is much closer to my home than the other hospital. I'm excited to finally see it and use it!

We received our replacement glider, too. That was exciting! Kyle put it together and thankfully there are no problems with it like the other one. We have it sitting up in the nursery, ready to be used. The one that didn't work properly is still sitting in our family room. We use it, too. So I guess technically we have 2! Today, later this afternoon, we are going to pick up one of the cribs we ordered. I got a steal on cyber Monday from Babies R Us. A crib that originally cost $399 only cost $99. Score! I went ahead and bought it, and it's already in, so we have to go pick it up and hopefully put it together tonight. I can't wait for the nice nursery furniture we ordered back in Oct to finally come in. I'm getting antsy! I can't wait to finally set up our babies' room! :)

Enjoy your holiday shopping. Don't spend too much. Remember the reason for the season ;-)

Much love.

Baby Gender Predictions

So, I decided to go ahead and post some old wives tales and myths in how to figure out the sex of the babies! Granted, twins are slightly different but we will see in the end if these predictions hold true or not. I actually stole all these myths off a friend of mine's (Tate) blog who recently had her very own cute baby boy!

  1. Carrying high means a girl is on the way; low predicts a baby boy: ????
  2. Breakouts mean a little girl is stealing mama’s beauty: GIRLS
  3. If baby’s heart rate is over 140 bpm baby is a girl. If it’s 140 or less, baby is a boy: GIRLS
  4. Legend says mama will crave sweets with a girl and saltys with a boy: ????
  5. The Mayans believed that if the mama’s age at conception and the year of the baby’s birth are both even or odd, it’s a girl. If one is even and the other is odd, it’s a boy: BOY
  6. Morning sickness means pink. If you're stricken with a queasy stomach during your first trimester think ribbons and bows. if you sail through your pregnancy with nary an upset stomach, it's blue all the way: BOYS
  7. Pay attention to which way you lay down in bed tonight. If you prefer sleeping on your left side, you'll have a boy. Right side? You’re pregnant with a girl: BOYS
  8. If a toddler boy shows interest in your belly, you'll have a girl. If he ignores you, it's a boy: BOYS
  9. According to the Chinese gender predictor based on mama’s age at conception and the month of conception, my baby is a: GIRLS
Based on these predictions, it seems I may be having Boys! I have taken another quiz online and it said based on my answers I'm 74% likely to have girls and only 26% likely to have boys. So, I guess I am all over the place!! Guess we will just have to wait a few more months to figure it out!

Based on people that have seen me or I've told them stuff I've gone through with this pregnancy, what do you think I'll be having?? I'm sure you have your own predictions or secret wants... Feel free to share! :)
