11 & 12 Months

Happy Birthday to my little Nauglettes!! They have grown SO much over the year it's crazy! Of course, they are still small for their age in my opinion. Their doctor's appointment is next week, so we'll see for sure what the doctor says!

Lots has changed since their 10 month post! Sorry for skipping out on the 11 month post, but I'll include some of the information I would have put in that one!

We are living in our new home! Yippee!! We absolutely LOVE it. Their nursery is huge. The spare bedroom is huge. Everything fits what we need. We are in the process of getting a shed and fence put up in the backyard, but the weather is creating some difficulties with that at the moment.

They both love standing up and using their legs as much as possible. They no longer need to pull up on anything to stand, they just pop right up! Sometimes I think they prefer standing more than anything else.

Harper was a terrible nurser at one point. She kept biting me for what felt like the longest time. It was pretty hard to break her of the habit, too. Let's just say I bled one day and it scarred me for life! Luckily she doesn't bite me anymore (for the most part). Although, it does make me happy that she only had her two bottom teeth for a while. I can only imagine what it would have been like if she had her top teeth in, too. Yikes... And now she officially has 2 more teeth trying to pop through. Let's see how that goes!

They can still fit in size 2 diapers, but have primarily been in size 3.
They wear 6 month, 6-9 month, and 9 month clothes. Most 12 month items are too big for them.

Their strawberry hermangiomas are getting smaller! Harper's has decreased drastically on the top of her head!! Both of them have lost their dark red color, too.

They are learning how to mimic people. It's really cute, because when we clap, they'll clap. I've taught them how to pat their tummies which is pretty fun, too.  Harper went through a phase where she waved at everyone but she doesn't quite do it as much anymore.

They LOVE to eat and nurse. Emmalyn is hilarious because she squeals and laughs everytime she knows she's going to nurse or get Cheerios. When I finally decide to wean them from nursing, that'll be really hard on them. But hey, I'm super proud I've made it a full year of nursing twins!! That's also the only reason why I look the way I do =P Am I sure I can't nurse/pump forever????

And Yes, they both still only had their 2 bottom teeth for the longest time. I didn't think they'd ever get any more teeth. BUT! For the past week or so, you can officially see more trying to poke through.

Harper is learning how to walk. She'll take a few tentative steps on her own but then flop down.  She does really well with her little walker toy she got for Christmas. Emmy does well, too, however she isn't as brave to walk unassisted.

Emmalyn LOVES to cran her neck in the weirdest ways to see what's going on. She's my nosy girl. Always gotta see what is happening or where something went. She'll crouch down and bend her head in a funny way to make sure she catches a glimpse of something. It's so funny and cute to watch.

They love grabbing faces. In fact, I think they're infatuated with picking noses, squeezing lips and poking eyeballs. Also, Harper finds it entertaining to lift up shirts and find skin. Then she'll proceed to touch your bare skin with her cold hands, and touch your belly button. She's so funny.

Emmalyn loves to have all sorts of attention on her. Well, I guess they both technically do. But she makes squawks whenever she wants you to pay attention to her and you're not. And both of them don't really like to share me. Whenever I'm holding one, she'll be perfectly fine until the other one comes up and starts to vie for my affection. Then they both get upset because they want to have my undivided attention.

They both try to eat my face. Primarily Emmy will do it, but Harper will sometimes, too. At first I thought it was because it was their way of giving me kisses. Now, I'm not so sure. Especially because they start clamping down now and trying to eat my face. So, apparently my face looks like a good teething toy. Those two little teeth can be painful! I still think they try to give me kisses because they don't try to bite me everytime! I think Emmalyn has grasped the "kiss" concept much more so than Harper. I'll say, "kiss" and she'll lean her head forward towards mine and I'll give her a kiss. It's sweet :)

We got to experience their very first BIG snowfall! And I mean, BIG! Especially for Kentucky! I haven't seen that kind of snow in years. Granted, I did live in California for several years but still. It was at least a foot high. We sat them in front of the open door and made them touch the snow with their bare hands. It didn't take long before they both started screaming because it was so cold. Then we bundled them up and plopped them in it. They didn't seem all that thrilled, in fact, Emmalyn cried. I can't wait until they want to play in it! Building snowmen....having snowball fights.... ah.. the days ahead!

One of their favorite times of the day is the hour or so before bedtime. And yes, their bedtime is still at about 6:30. They love being on their schedule and we don't plan to change it any time soon. I realize that's early and they won't always go to bed at 6:30. I wouldn't want them to. But for now, it works :) -- anyway -- they love the hour before bedtime because it's when they have Mommy and Daddy's undivided attention. There's no TV we could watch. There's nothing to get in their way of fun time with us!

They also got to experience their first Valentine's Day. Last year, they were making me VERY uncomfortable and I was ready for them to pop out!! It's crazy to see how different life is just one year later.
